About Us

By The Yard is an online, home-based business run by me (Nicky Slater) with support from my extended family. I am a stay-at-home mum of three. I love bright and colorful fabrics and aim to bring you a wide selection of contemporary fabrics and other craft items. Currently almost all the fabrics I stock are 100% woven cotton, with a few woven linen/cottons thrown in. I am located in West Melton, Canterbury, New Zealand and all prices quoted on this website are in New Zealand dollars.

Fabrics are available for sale from this website by the fat quarter (50cm x 55cm), or off the bolt by the metre. If less than 150cm of a fabric is left in stock the quantity available will be shown in the fabric's information.  For an explanation of what a fat quarter is click here. If you would like more than is available of a fabric please get in touch and I may be able to get more in for you. I also often have remnants available.

I can't guarantee the colour you see on your monitor is an exact match to the fabric, and I recognise that sometimes the fabric doesn't look like what you thought it would when it arrives, so I offer a no hassles return policy. For more information click here.
